FAITH DISCOVERY FOR CHILDREN – EPIPHANY

What a meaningful time we had together during Advent! Our new idea — to attempt to feel the story of Jesus’ birth from “within,” to imagine how we might have felt if we had been one of the people in the story –helped us to enter the story in a new way. Congregants of all ages participated in the service by reading what they wrote, as the children read the story from the Bible. The children also contributed how they would have felt if they had been King Herod and the Magi had come asking where the king of the Jews was born. And now we are in the season called EPIPHANY, when the words of the prophets all came to light in the birth of Jesus. We celebrate the light that Jesus brought into the world, as he sheds light on how God wants us to live and shows us how to be that light in the world around us. Weaving in our theme from the fall, of how science and faith walk hand in hand, we will ask questions of the scripture like, “Does this story tell us something that science cannot?” And we will remember that faith is always asking questions!
