Who We Are

Our History

The Congregational Church of Weston UCC is a living tradition…

Gathered nearly sixty years ago “with a trust born of God,” for many years we were intentionally “a church without walls,” building our faith community in members’ homes while worshiping at Country School. Fifty years ago, an edifice of simple grace was constructed to fit into our natural surroundings. Founded in the tradition of New England Congregationalism, we retain that character, while embracing our membership in the progressive social justice spirit of the United Church of Christ. The early emphasis on caring relationships and warm fellowship characterizes us to this day.

We welcome all visitors and new members. While Worship is the door through which most enter CCW, others explore our Youth Group, Outreach, Music, Adult Education, and Fellowship programs. Our congregation attracts members from many surrounding towns. Join us as we live the Christian faith….together.

In 2019, we began a collaboration with Wellesley Village Church in Wellesley, MA, only five miles away. With this relationship we can offer our members all the resources and advantages of a large church while maintaining the intimacy of our setting. We also enjoy the services of Wellesley Village’s Pastoral Residents who, along with other members of Wellesley Village clergy, lead worship in our community as well.

  • Providing an environment of hope and purpose, grounded in our Christian belief in God’s grace and mercy.
  • Supporting and nurturing our members of all ages.
  • Equipping ourselves and neighbors with skills for constructive discourse.
  • Engaging our community in authentic and respectful conversations about challenging situations in our families, communities, nation and world; and encouraging constructive responses to these exchanges.

Our Denominational Tradition – United Church of Christ

The Congregational Church of Weston is rooted in the denominational tradition of the United Church of Christ whose heritage includes the Pilgrims who came to this country fulfilling the admonition that there is “yet more light and truth to break forth from God’s Word.” This tradition continues to nurture an active, engaging, and lively faith.

Continuing this dynamic that God is still speaking, the UCC Board of Directors in October 2016 affirmed the statements below.

Purpose, Vision, and Mission

Purpose Statement (from the Gospel of Matthew):
To love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and our neighbor as ourselves.

Vision Statement:
United in Christ’s love, a just world for all.

Mission statement:
United in Spirit and inspired by God’s grace, we welcome all, love all, and seek justice for all.
